The independent identity provider
Indiid is an identity provider: we provide accounts that you can use to log in to other services on the Internet. We help you to log in securely and conveniently and to only share the information you want to share.
We're not owned by a bank or shop. We're not an Internet giant. We're not a university or government service. We're not tied to the needs of advertisers, shareholders or investors.
We believe that your online identity should be independent too - not locked in to your email provider or employer.
- We make it easy for you to protect your privacy
- We won't sell your data
- We won't show adverts
- We won't track you
Our Basic account is only £5 per year - that's just 42p per month.
Indiid is a beta service
Indiid is a new service that's being actively developed. We've chosen to release it as soon as we can, before all features are available.
Please bear this in mind when choosing a subscription! Because most of the more advanced features of the Plus and Pro accounts are not available yet we recommend choosing the Basic plan for now (you can upgrade later if you want).
What is it?
A single account you can use to log in to many other services. Indiid includes Single Sign On (SSO), Federated Identity and a wide variety of log in methods. Some people call this sort of thing "Cloud Identity" or "Identity As A Service" (IDaaS).
What can I log in to?
At the moment there are only a few available destinations while we test the service. We're expanding the range of services to include
- Education and research eresources including academic journals
- Blogs and websites
- Business cloud services
How does it work?
The heart of Indiid uses the SAML2 protocol, supported by huge range of academic and business applications. We plan to add OpenID, OpenID Connect and other protocols in the near future.
You can choose to log in using combinations of passphrases, Yubikeys, Google Authenticator and many other types of credentials.
What else can it do?
All subscription plans come with an email alias address that redirects incoming email to your existing email account. Monthly plans also include a Jabber/XMPP instant messaging account.
